For 2024, the Traverse will come with a more rugged exterior and offers an off-road capable Z71 variation. Here's what's new for 2024 in the Chevy Traverse
Chevrolet will unveil a new generation of the Traverse with the 2024 model year, launching a new Z71 off-road model. The Z71 wasn't available in the 2023 Traverse and it will come with a number of off-road features. That includes a suspension that's slightly lifted, all-terrain tires, a twin-clutch all-wheel drive system and distinctive 18-inch wheels.
Changes in trim levels for 2024
The new 2024 Traverse now has a dynamic RS trim that will take the place of the Premier and High Country models at the top of the ladder. The RS trim will come with 22-inch wheels, black exterior trim and a sportier suspension tune. The 2024 Traverse keeps the base LS and mid-range LT trims from 2023 and every version of the new Traverse will come with the same 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that's capable of 315 horsepower.
The engine and performance in the 2024 and 2023 Chevy Traverse
For the 2024 model year, the Chevy Traverse will operate with an efficient 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The output is now 317 pound-feet of torque with 315 horsepower while the V6 Traverse from 2023 delivered 310 horsepower. Front-wheel drive will come standard and all-wheel drive will be an available option for 2024. With the available towing package, the 2024 Traverse can tow up to 5,000 pounds, the same as the 2023 maximum. The Z71 trim will come standard with all-wheel drive, enhanced suspension damping and terrain-matchable driving modes.
The 2023 Chevrolet Traverse operates with a standard 310-horsepower V6 engine along with a smooth-shifting 9-speed automatic transmission. The 2023 Traverse can make the run from 60 mph in 6.8 seconds and hit the quarter-mile in 15.1 seconds. The suspension for 2023 is well-tuned to give you a nice balance between ride comfort and handling.
A comparison of interiors
Both the 2023 and 2024 versions of the Chevy Traverse give you a spacious cabin with room for up to eight passengers. In the 2024 model, all trims above the base come with the popular second-row captain's chairs, leaving space for seven passengers. While the 2023 model offered an 8-inch touch screen as the best available option, the 2024 Chevy Traverse will give you a huge 17.7-touch screen at every trim level.
A comparison of fuel economy estimates
The 2023 Chevy Traverse with front-wheel drive will give you 27 MPG on the highway which is one of the better fuel efficiency numbers in the class. With all-wheel drive, the 2023 Traverse RS has an EPA estimate of 25 MPG. For 2024, the Chevy Traverse matches the V6 engine from 2023, giving you fuel economy estimates of up to 27 MPG on the highway when equipped with front-wheel drive.
