Brake pads create friction and pressure, two vital members of the laws of physics. What makes them so vital? For drivers, the brake pads' friction and pressure help slow and stop a vehicle. Unfortunately, friction also causes wear, necessitating new brake pads at some point. Hopefully, grinding, squealing, and other noises may alert a driver about the wearing down.

Brake pads connect to rotors, discs connected to the wheels. Brake pads apply friction and pressure onto the rotors, slowing the rotors and, subsequently, the wheels. All parts need to be in good shape to do their job, though.

Brake fluid released by the cylinder travels through hoses and lines to the calipers, which sets the brake pads into action. This event occurs when the driver presses down on the brake pedal. Everything has to work properly to achieve the desired result.

Porter Chevrolet offers brake inspections and service. Are either due for your car now?
